Dallas, TX Cosmetic Dentist Explains Zoom Teeth Whitening Treatment

Written by Dr. Lin on Feb 15, 2013

One of the treatments we use at Dallas, TX Cosmetic Dentist is the Zoom Teeth Whitening System. Age, stain-producing food and drink and tobacco are just a few of the causes that can lead to a less-than-dazzling smile. This is a bleaching process that is very effective and widely used today to lighten discolored tooth enamel.

The Zoom Whitening Process

A regular cleaning with the hygienist is recommended prior to the actual Zoom teeth whitening session. We begin the treatment by protecting the lips and gums, leaving only the teeth exposed. A hydrogen peroxide-based gel is then applied. The Zoom procedure uses a special bleaching light fitted with an infrared filter to minimize the amount of heat to which the patient’s teeth are exposed. Once the light is in position it can illuminate all of the teeth being treated, and the entire process takes about an hour. Immediately following the bleaching treatment, the dentist applies a sensitivity-reducing fluoride paste-gel is applied to the teeth.

Post Treatment Guidelines

You will be given a Zoom touch-up kit to take home (including custom-fit whitening trays) and instructions on how the kit should be used. We also provide a list of stain-producing foods and beverages that should be used in moderation to maintain the whitening effects of the Zoom treatment.

Is Zoom Whitening Right for You?

Before deciding whether Zoom In-Office teeth whitening is right for you, your Dallas, TX Cosmetic Dentist will conduct a comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums to ensure your overall oral health and discuss your at-home oral hygiene and lifestyle. This will help you and your dentist agree on the whitening product or technique that’s best for you.
