There are a few simple things that you can do to boost oral hygiene, freshen breath, and support dental health. Keep reading to learn more…

Carry Water

Here’s a simple yet effective thing that you can do to boost oral health: carry a water bottle with you during the day! Patients who suffer from dry mouth experience increased rates of cavity development, gum disease, and bad breath. Support your smile, and encourage natural saliva production by sipping on water regularly.

Rinse Habitually

For many of us, a new school year means a new routine for meals and snacks. This is the perfect opportunity to start regularly rinsing your smile after eating. By rinsing your smile, you clear away dental debris and bacteria, and you encourage your body to produce saliva. You can freshen your breath while making it more difficult for bacteria to thrive!

Minimize Bad Habits

Now is also the time to stay un-learn some bad habits that may be hurting your smile. If, for example, you regularly chomp on your pen or pencil as you work, try to replace this with a habit that won’t negatively affect your teeth. Also, many people find that they clench their top and bottom teeth together, or even grind their teeth when they’re trying to concentrate. Unfortunately, this can lead to enamel damage, so it’s important to minimize it as much as possible.

As you can see, there are a number of simple and straightforward ways for you to put your smile first this year. If you would like to learn more about preventive dental care, our Dallas dentists are here to help—just give us a call!
