Dallas Cosmetic Dentist Reviews Porcelain Dental Crowns

by | Date Published:

What are Porcelain Crowns used for?

Porcelain crowns can be used to deal with different issues that you may have with your teeth. Since they are very adaptable, the Dallas Cosmetic Dentist will evaluate your individual situation to determine if porcelain crowns are most appropriate treatment for your needs. Issues that can be corrected by with porcelain crowns include:

  • Seriously decayed teeth
  • Dental restoration for a tooth that has had root canal therapy
  • Repair and restore teeth damaged by trauma
  • Repair severely cracked teeth

An important benefit of using porcelain crowns for any of these instances is that you can keep a natural tooth that might otherwise need to be extracted. It is far preferable to keep your teeth intact without letting them deteriorate because you preserve your oral health and your teeth will maintain proper alignment. This will prevent problems with normal wear and tear in the long-term, as well as issues with improper bite, and other oral health concerns.

What do Porcelain Crowns do?

Porcelain crowns are placed in a similar fashion as traditional metal crowns. The process begins when our dentist modifies the existing tooth in order to make sure the crown will fit over it. Impressions of your tooth are then taken, and these will be used to create your permanent porcelain crown. Then we take an impression of your tooth, and this is used to fabricate your permanent porcelain crown. Porcelain crowns are cosmetically appealing because they are made of a natural-looking material that will be matched closely to your natural tooth color.

What is the Process for Placing Crowns?

After this initial visit to the Dallas Cosmetic Dentist office you will be fit with a temporary crown while the new porcelain crown is being custom-made for you. When the permanent crown is finished, we will remove the temporary, and the permanent porcelain crown will be cemented to the natural tooth with a strong bonding material. When the process is complete, you will have a natural-looking replacement that blends in beautifully with your teeth.
